We love to visit new Hostels, Bunkhouses, Camping Barns and Group Accommodation and those that join the Independent Hostel Guide receive a big package of marketing and networking services for a small annual fee.
In addition to a feature on the website, a page of coverage is dedicated to each accommodation in the printed Independent Hostel Guide. This is published in January each year and sold by the thousand through bookshops, hostels and by mail order. The accommodation is also included in a leaflet which is distributed for free. Free copies of the guidebook and leaflet are sent to Tourist Information Centres in the UK.
Included in the fee is membership of Independent Hostels UK which markets the accommodation in the guide through the national press and at shows such as the Ordnance Survey Outdoors Show, and TNT travellers Show.
In addition to publicising accommodation, Independent Hostels UK also supports the accommodation owners and promotes networking between them. You are provided with a personal login to an active message board where accommodation owners regularly recommend services, inform about scams and post general news . The message board also gives you access to post 'Natters' on your website feature which feed onto the website front page and newsletters to hostel users. You can also view the latest statistics for your feature on the website, showing the page-views and link-throughs to your own website.
