Perched on the cliff tops 12 miles north of Gairloch, Rua Reidh Lighthouse must have one of the most dramatic settings of all the Scottish Hostels.
The lighthouse still beams out its light over the Minch to the Outer Isles and Skye, but since its automation the adjoining house, no longer needed for keepers, has been converted into a comfortable independent hostel.
The centrally heated house has two sitting rooms with log fires, a self-catering kitchen, a drying room, three private rooms and four dorms (each sleeping four), some rooms with en-suite shower.
Meals are available from the main dining room and guided walking is also offered.
The area of the lighthouse is unspoiled and makes a perfect place to watch for whales, dolphins etc.
For an away from it all experience travel to the ‘edge of the world’ and Rua Reidh Lighthouse.
