The Reckoning House

English Hostels, Bunkhouses and Camping Barns

The Reckoning House camping barn has been renovated to a high standard including double glazing and insulation.

It is situated on the edge of Lathkill Dale, 3 miles from Bakewell.

Lathkill Dale is a nature reserve managed by English Nature to protect a variety of flora and fauna as well as some outstanding geological features.

Horse riding, fishing, golf and cycle hire are all available locally.

There are also many local walks including the Limestone Way. It has a cooking area, 4 calor gas rings (gas supplied) a washing up sink with hot water, a toilet, wash basin, storage heaters in all rooms and shower inside the barn. Upstairs there are two separate rooms with bunkbeds.

Sole use bookings only, in advance (min 2 nights at weekends). 10% deposit, balance 2 weeks before arrival.

£8.50 per person. Sole use £85 per night, Reduction for sole use on Sun (excluding bank holidays), Mon, Tue, Wed or Thurs nights.

Public Transport:
Train stations at Buxton (10 miles) and Matlock (13 miles). National Express drop at Bakewell. Local buses (enquiries 01332 292200) go to Bakewell from Monyash, Over Haddon, Matlock and Buxton.
  Directions:
GR 184 666. Take the B5055 out of Bakewell towards Monyash. Continue for 3 miles. After passing Haddon Grove Farm holiday cottages (the second set of cottages on right), take the first turn left at the signpost to Haddon Grove. Bear left at the bottom of the lane. The camping barn is the first on the left in a half mile.
